Visiting my family for a 60’s birthday, gave me the opportunity to revisit historical and family related places in the eastern parts of Germany, close to the boarder to the Czech Republic. Abandoned houses, where inhabitants had died some time ago, bathed in the autumn evening light, creaky corners of our house, the familiar shapes and smell, the field behind with freshly harvested corn.
